cultural shows such as Kolintang, Kasipasa Manggis, Kasipasa Abun, Kambayoka,
Kasayawsa Singkil, and Kanggarotaya.
Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. said the
month-long celebration last year was shortened to eight days this year 53rd
Araw ng Lanao del Sur. The celebration was opened with a sports festival last June
26.
“This year’s anniversary is significant, not
only because of the line-up of events, but also because of the massive
participation of the people,” said Adiong.
A cultural street dance presented by the
Department of Education here with their colorful costumes highlighted a parade during
the culmination day.
The presentation is considered a remake of
the fiesta tradition that was last done almost 53 years ago.
There was also scheduled event of contest on literary
and art, essay writing and poster making on July 2.
In support to the occasion, line agencies
initiated mass registration of live birth, medical service, free legal
assistance, application of business permits, among others as part of the anniversary
celebration events.
Non-government organizations have also given
their support in the celebration.
Another sought-after activity is the concert
featuring FREESTYLE in the capitol ground on July 1 which showed Filipino with
a rare singing talent.
In a speech, Adiong had expressed
appreciation over the support of the people that brought the success of the
occasion.
The Governor also showed appreciation on the
efforts of the security force in maintaining peace and order.

activity implemented by the Comelec is address to ensure a legitimate listing
of the ARMM voters.
The Comelec is expecting the number of
registered ARMM voters to go down from the previous 1.7 million to 1.5 million
after the new general registration.
